7.6 CONCLUSIONS

Cancers are still hitting hard despite various treatment options being available in conventional medicine. Among other reasons, this is due to the high costs the treatments attract from patients. Functional foods and pharmaceutical plants are now providing a promise of cheaper readily available preventive options against cancers, which are already in use today but with the potential of further designing into better products. The authors envision cheaper preventive medicines using locally available materials (PreMULAM) to help evade the hard impact of cancers. The same products are also vital in providing therapies against cancers, with the advantage of having no serious, if at all present, adverse effects to consumers. Nutraceuticals discovery is just a springboard for a better future against cancers and other diseases.
